The mission of IGeLU is to be the collective voice and advocate of the international community of users/customers of products made by Ex Libris

IGeLU is the successor organisation of ICAU and SMUG. It was formed in 2006 by 165 libraries from 26 countries.
In 2007, soon after the merge of Ex Libris and Endeavor Information Systems, the former user group of Endeavor, EndUser, joined IGeLU on the international level and ELUNA in the USA, where the vast majority of Endeavor customers was situated.

The aims of IGeLU are:

  • to collect and combine the needs and priorities of the users,
  • to speak with one voice as the communication link with Ex Libris,
  • to influence software development to the mutual benefit of the company and the product users,
  • to offer the user community a forum for sharing information.

IGeLU works closely with Ex Libris on development cooperation

IGeLU is funded by its members. They elect a Steering Committee, which consists of five members and a chairperson. Additionally, members form Product Working Groups and Special Interest Working Groups.

IGeLU cooperates closely with the national and regional user groups.

IGeLU is a non-profit organisation based in Siena, Italy.
